entity

Overview

苗光 / Miao Guang is the hesitant eunuch participant in Hanji 804’s Shun-restoration coup. His case shows why a reward list is also an evidence list: once hesitation at the commitment point becomes known, later inclusion among merit holders can turn into exposure for both the included person and the list-maker.

Current Profile

Hanji 804 places Miao Guang at Zhangtai Gate when Sun Cheng and others kill Yan-side generals Liu An and Chen Da. The episode treats this killing as a point-of-no-return act; Miao Guang hesitates and therefore looks less reliable than the fully committed coup participants.

Miao Guang later appears on the merit list because Wang Kang quietly includes him. When no certificate or tally arrives, Miao Guang panics and tells the Huangmen Ling that he hesitated at Zhangtai Gate and that Wang Kang had manipulated the list. His confession makes hidden commitment quality visible after the restoration has already succeeded.

Key Characteristics

  • Hesitant coup participant whose behavior at Zhangtai Gate weakens his claim to full restoration merit.
  • Beneficiary of Wang Kang’s private merit-list inclusion.
  • Exposure point showing that post-coup documents can reopen questions about who actually committed.
  • Example of how fear after victory can reveal hidden alliance defects.

Evidence

  • Commitment hesitation: Hanji 804 says Miao Guang hesitated when Sun Cheng’s group killed Liu An and Chen Da at Zhangtai Gate.
  • Merit-list inclusion: Hanji 804 says Wang Kang quietly added Miao Guang to the list.
  • Confession trigger: Hanji 804 says Miao Guang panicked when no certificate arrived and reported the hesitation and manipulation to the Huangmen Ling.

Qualifications

This page is bounded to Hanji 804. It does not settle Miao Guang’s later punishment, office, or long-term political alignment. The Huangmen Ling remains source-scoped because the current source does not make that official a recurring actor.

What Changed

  • Created Miao Guang as the hesitant participant whose reward-list exposure grounds the coup-credit risk pattern.

Relationships

  • 孙程 - coup leader whose Zhangtai Gate action exposes Miao Guang’s hesitation.
  • 王康 - list-maker who includes Miao Guang and becomes vulnerable through the manipulation.
  • 汉顺帝 - restored ruler in whose accession merit field Miao Guang appears.
  • 宫廷政变中的符印与门户控制 - operational setting where gates and point-of-no-return actions determine commitment quality.
  • 宫变功劳分配风险 - concept directly grounded by Miao Guang’s list inclusion and confession.
