芈横 / Mi Heng appears in 《资治通鉴·周纪》60丨 中国第一位把持朝政的太后竟是她？ as the 楚国 crown prince sent to 秦国 as hostage when 齐国, 韩国, and 魏国 attack Chu for moving toward Qin. His hostage status is part of the Qin-Chu rescue bargain: 楚怀王 asks for help, and Qin sends 客卿通 to aid Chu.
The same episode turns Mi Heng into the hinge of alliance collapse. After a private quarrel with a Qin official, he kills the official and escapes back to Chu without an apology. The host reads this as the event that breaks 芈八子 / 宣太后’s Qin-Chu alignment and gives 秦昭襄王 a later pretext to attack Chu.
