南海郡 / Nanhai Commandery enters the wiki through 《资治通鉴·秦纪》123-2｜古代时期的“倒插门”到底有多危险 as one of Qin’s post-campaign southern commanderies after the attack on 百越. The episode places it in today’s Guangdong and uses it with 桂林郡 and 象郡 to mark Qin’s incorporation of Lingnan into the commandery-county order.

Hanji 184 gives the commandery a later early-Han role through 赵佗. The source introduces Zhao Tuo as the former Qin Nanhai governor who builds 南越 after Qin’s collapse and is later recognized by 刘邦 as Nanyue king.
