南郑 / Nanzheng
南郑 / Nanzheng enters the wiki through Hanji 143 as the capital assigned to 刘邦 after 项羽 makes him Han king. In the episode’s reading, the capital placement matters because Liu Bang is not given the open 关中 kingship promised by the 怀王之约, but is instead pushed into 巴蜀 and 汉中.
Nanzheng therefore anchors the practical side of Liu Bang’s demotion. The title “Han king” can still be made to sound connected to the broader Guanzhong promise, but the capital marks a constrained and remote base behind difficult terrain and behind the Three Qin containment layer.
Hanji 146 makes Nanzheng the morale and retention test for that confined base. After 刘邦 arrives, many officers and soldiers want to return east and desertions become common. 韩信 also flees after concluding that his prospects are limited, prompting 萧何 to chase him and force the question of whether Hanzhong will merely hold disappointed people or convert them into command capacity through 仪式化拜将留才.
