Nombre de Dios

Nombre de Dios appears in 693. Elizabeth I vs The Catholics: England’s Greatest Hero (Part 3) as the Spanish port in Panama through which South American silver and other treasure moved toward Spain. Francis Drake identifies it as a weak point because it is poorly fortified and protected mainly by distance, routine, and Spanish assumptions that outsiders will not attack.

Drake’s 1572 raid nearly reaches the treasure house before rain, weapons failure, and his leg wound force withdrawal. The later successful mule-train ambush makes Nombre de Dios central to Spanish Imperial Monopoly Vulnerability and to the economic-war branch later extended by episode 694.
