PathJoy
PathJoy was Adora Cheung and Aaron Cheung’s early services-marketplace company before it became Homejoy. In Adora Cheung on Homejoy, YC, Vote-by-Mail, and Instalab, Cheung says the original idea focused on therapists and life coaches, attracted supply, but did not generate enough customer demand.
The PathJoy story matters because it shows a demand-side failure before Homejoy’s supply-side and operations lessons. The team spent roughly two years and many pivots before the home-cleaning direction exposed a problem with stronger consumer demand.
