青州 / Qingzhou (late Han)
Hanji 964 adds the pre-surrender military pressure behind the later Qingzhou-soldier branch. A force described as 青州黄巾军 attacks 兖州, kills 刘岱, and then becomes the problem 曹操 must defeat before any later absorption can happen.
Hanji 968 adds Qingzhou as the label attached to a large Yellow Turban surrender that 曹操 converts into 青州兵 and farming capacity. In this branch, Qingzhou matters less as a provincial office than as a displaced armed population that can either remain a disorder problem or become a military-logistical base through 降众资源化.
青州 / Qingzhou (late Han) then enters a separate branch through Hanji 969 as the provincial field where the 公孙瓒-袁绍 rivalry becomes a proxy war. 田楷 holds the Qingzhou inspector title from the Gongsun Zan side, while 袁谭 represents Yuan Shao’s side.
The source emphasizes the social cost rather than only the battlefield alignment. After two years of confrontation, armies are exhausted, grain is depleted, soldiers turn on civilians, and the episode cites a report of cannibalism and bare fields. Qingzhou therefore becomes a late-Han case for War-Disaster Compounding and Famine Entitlement Failure: rival appointments and military standoff break ordinary food access and local protection.
赵岐’s mediation closes the source’s Qingzhou branch. He uses the emperor’s edict against Gongsun Zan and old political leverage against Yuan Shao, producing a temporary settlement and retreat without resolving the deeper northern rivalry.
