秦襄公 / Duke Xiang of Qin appears in 《资治通鉴·周纪》10丨 以家族单位 有蚂蚁吃大象的精神(1) as the Qin leader whose service during the 周幽王 crisis and 周平王’s eastward move changes Qin’s status. The source says Zhou Ping Wang then recognizes Qin as a vassal and grants land west of Qishan.
His source role is institutional. He marks the move from 非子’s dependent Qin fief to 秦国 as a recognized polity that still has to win its granted territory from the Quanrong.
