穰城 / Rangcheng

穰城 / Rangcheng enters the wiki through Hanji 1010 as the 南阳郡 city attacked by 张济 after he brings troops from Guanzhong into 荆州. Zhang Ji dies during the fighting, and his death gives 刘表 the opening to refuse celebration, mourn the dead commander, and absorb the remaining troops through 丧礼化收编.

The place also sits behind the Wancheng branch. Hanji 1012 uses Zhang Ji’s death at Rangcheng as the reason 张绣 inherits the army before the later 宛县 surrender to 曹操. Hanji 1013 then says Zhang Xiu retreats toward Rangcheng and reconnects with Liu Biao after the failed Wancheng attack sequence.
