Royal Highland Fusiliers
The Royal Highland Fusiliers appear in 699. The Troubles: Return of the IRA (Part 3) through the killing of three off-duty soldiers on 10 March 1971. The episode says the soldiers were lured from a Belfast pub and shot in the back of the head, shocking both Northern Ireland and Britain.
The source uses the murders to show how violence could radicalize soldiers as well as civilians. A later paratrooper memoir is cited for the desire for revenge among troops, making the killings part of the episode’s concern with discipline erosion inside the British Army.
