汝南郡 / Runan Commandery (late Han)
Overview
汝南郡 / Runan Commandery is a late-Han local theater that Hanji 1045 places inside the pre-官渡之战 Cao-Yuan struggle. 刘辟 and other Yellow Turban remnants answer 袁绍, creating pressure on 曹操’s local allies such as 李通.
Current Profile
Runan functions as an allegiance-testing field rather than a settled rear area. The episode uses it to show that Cao Cao’s contest with Yuan Shao is fought through local rebels, envoy recruitment, and commandery responses as much as through the main armies.
Key Characteristics
- Runan is the setting for Yellow Turban remnant rebellion against Cao Cao.
- Yuan Shao’s support gives the local revolt wider Cao-Yuan significance.
- Neighboring commanderies are described as responding to the Yuan-backed movement.
- The Runan branch creates a loyalty test for Li Tong in nearby Yang’an.
Evidence
- Local rebel field: Hanji 1045 places Liu Pi and other Yellow Turban remnants in Runan rebellion against Cao Cao.
- Cao-Yuan linkage: Hanji 1045 has Yuan Shao back the rebels and try to recruit Li Tong through commission and envoy pressure.
Qualifications
This page covers Runan only as used in the Hanji 1045 episode. It does not yet synthesize the commandery’s broader administrative or social history.
