Seiko
Seiko is the Japanese watchmaker used in Rolex as the emblem of the quartz shift. The source says Seiko launched the Astron in 1969, helping show that quartz watches could tell time more accurately and cheaply than mechanical watches.
Seiko’s role in the wiki is not as a full company history but as the market shock that forced Rolex, Omega, and other Swiss firms into Mechanical Watch Repositioning. Once cheaper quartz timekeeping won the functional job, high-end mechanical watches needed a different reason to exist.
