市被 / Shi Bei appears in 《资治通鉴·周纪》48丨君王为啥不能传位宰相 as the 燕国 general drawn into the crisis after 燕王哙 lets 子之 control the state.

The episode says Shi Bei and the Yan crown prince plan to attack Zi Zhi after 齐宣王 promises support in the language of restoring ruler-minister and father-son order. The attack does not succeed, and Shi Bei then turns against the crown prince, leaving Yan’s internal struggle more chaotic and making Qi intervention easier.

Shi Bei’s role is narrow but useful. He makes the abstract failure of 破坏规则式禅让 operational: once legitimate succession and practical command split apart, a general can shift targets inside the same crisis instead of stabilizing the state.
