师宜官 / Shi Yiguan

Hanji 911 introduces 师宜官 / Shi Yiguan as one of the best-known figures associated with 鸿都门学. The episode uses his restaurant-wall calligraphy anecdote to show that the Hongdu channel, despite士大夫 contempt, could attract people with visible artistic skill.

His role in the wiki is therefore not only biographical. Together with 梁鹄, Shi Yiguan complicates a simple anti-Hongdu reading: the appointment channel may damage public selection, but the artistic field it promotes is not automatically talentless.
