Spring Airlines / 春秋航空

Spring Airlines appears in No.203 "不死鸟"兰世立 as the surviving contrast to East Star Airlines / 东星航空 in China’s first wave of private airlines. The episode places it in the same Chinese Private Airline Opening generation, but uses founder Wang Zhenghua / 王正华 to represent a slower, thriftier, operationally grounded route.

The contrast matters because it prevents the East Star story from becoming only a story of bad timing or state pressure. Spring’s survival and later public-company path suggest that private-airline opportunity existed, but Private Airline Failure Modes punished operators that combined high leverage, fragile cash flow, and weaker operational discipline.
