孙贲 / Sun Ben (late Han)

Overview

孙贲 / Sun Ben is a Sun-family military and administrative actor whose current source profile connects Danyang recruitment infrastructure to Sun Ce’s later Yuzhang settlement.

Current Profile

The evidence gives Sun Ben a support role rather than an independent arc. Yuan Shu first uses him with 吴景 to extend Sun-family access into 丹阳郡; Hanji 1039 later has 孙策 install him as 豫章郡 administrator after Hua Xin’s surrender.

Key Characteristics

• Operates as a Sun-family channel inside Yuan Shu’s Danyang arrangement.
• Helps form the recruitment and resource base Sun Ce uses before independent expansion.
• Is later assigned Yuzhang after Sun Ce’s takeover, linking family personnel to territorial administration.
• Functions mainly as institutional infrastructure around Sun Ce, not as a fully narrated protagonist.

Evidence

• Danyang channel: Hanji 983 places Sun Ben with Wu Jing in Yuan Shu’s Danyang arrangement.
• Sun Ce launch support: Hanji 983 says Sun Ce is sent to rely on Wu Jing and Sun Ben rather than receiving all of Sun Jian’s old troops.
• Yuzhang appointment: Hanji 1039 says Sun Ce makes Sun Ben administrator of Yuzhang after Hua Xin’s surrender.
• Family administration pattern: Hanji 1039 pairs Sun Ben’s Yuzhang appointment with Sun Fu’s Luling appointment.

Qualifications

The sources do not yet provide Sun Ben’s independent motives or command style. His current profile should stay anchored to Sun-family logistics and administration.
