太史慈 / Taishi Ci

太史慈 / Taishi Ci enters the wiki through Hanji 993 as the Donglai visitor who reaches 刘繇 while 孙策 is attacking Qu’a. The source says someone recommends making him a great general, but Liu Yao hesitates because he fears 许劭 will laugh at the appointment.

The episode’s strongest Taishi Ci scene is 神亭岭之战. Liu Yao sends him only to scout; Taishi Ci goes with one rider, meets Sun Ce and thirteen riders including 韩当 and 黄盖, and fights Sun Ce directly. Sun Ce seizes Taishi Ci’s hand戟, while Taishi Ci seizes Sun Ce’s headgear before reinforcements on both sides arrive.

Hanji 1028 supplies the missing step between Shentingling and the later trust mission. After Liu Yao flees toward 豫章郡, Taishi Ci moves into the Wuhu and 泾县 mountain zone, claims the 丹阳郡 administrator title, and gains support among 山越 groups. He becomes the last serious Jiangdong opponent after 祖郎 submits.

Sun Ce then captures Taishi Ci, releases him, recalls the Shentingling encounter, and asks what Taishi Ci would have done if he had captured Sun Ce then. Taishi Ci answers “不好说,” Sun Ce laughs, and the episode treats the scene as the moment when Sun Ce turns an opponent’s courage and loyalty into usable service. Taishi Ci is appointed 门下督, making him the stronger case for 降敌任用式立威 before Hanji 1029 develops trust delegation.

Hanji 1029 supplies the full post-Shenting trust mission. After 刘繇 dies, 孙策 sends Taishi Ci to calm Liu Yao’s remaining followers and inspect 豫章郡. Others warn that Taishi Ci may not return, but Sun Ce trusts his promise-keeping character; Taishi Ci returns within the agreed sixty days and reports on 华歆, 僮芝, and 番阳民帅.

Hanji 1030 then uses that post-Shenting characterization as an opening contrast. It says Taishi Ci wants to follow a worthy hero and had passed through the fields of 孔融, 刘备, and Liu Yao before Sun Ce understands his promise-keeping character. The episode uses him less for a new battle than as a trust contrast: talent becomes usable when the ruler can read character and then actually delegate.

The page is source-scoped. Hanji 993 does not narrate Taishi Ci’s wider career; it uses him as a visible case of ability blocked by status and reputation filtering. In that sense Taishi Ci anchors 门第筛选式人才误判 and extends 以贤臣为宝 through the negative example of a commander who notices martial ability too late.
