Overview

若羌去胡来王唐斗 / Tangdou enters the wiki through Hanji 613 as a Ruoqiang ruler whose failed appeal for Han frontier protection, blocked entry at Yumen Pass, flight to 匈奴, extradition, and public execution make him the second major case in the episode’s coercive frontier-control sequence.

Current Profile

Tangdou’s source role is not the same as 沽沟’s infrastructure case. He fights repeatedly with Chishui Qiang, loses, and asks Western Regions Protector Dan Qin for help. Dan Qin does not rescue him in time, and Tangdou’s attempted eastward escape fails when Yumen Pass will not let him enter.

Tangdou then takes his family and more than a thousand people to Xiongnu. The chanyu accepts him and later hands him over after Han pressure. The Han court rejects leniency and executes Tangdou alongside Gougou before assembled Western Regions rulers and troops.

Key Characteristics

  • Ruoqiang ruler whose defection begins from failed protection rather than road-burden resistance.
  • Frontier actor caught between local Qiang conflict, Han nonresponse, and pass-entry refusal.
  • Leader of a group flight including family members and more than a thousand people.
  • Refuge seeker accepted by Xiongnu but surrendered under Han diplomatic pressure.
  • Publicly executed example used to warn other dependent frontier states.

Evidence

  • Protection failure: Hanji 613 says Tangdou asks Dan Qin for rescue after conflict with Chishui Qiang but does not receive timely help.
  • Blocked passage: Hanji 613 says Tangdou tries to enter Yumen Pass but is refused.
  • Group flight: Hanji 613 says Tangdou takes family and more than a thousand people to Xiongnu.
  • Extradition and execution: Hanji 613 says the chanyu surrenders Tangdou and the Han court beheads him publicly with Gougou.

Qualifications

This is a one-source page. It does not establish Tangdou’s wider biography, the full Ruoqiang political context, or the Chishui Qiang conflict beyond the episode’s summary. Dan Qin, Yumen Pass officials, exact group size, and Tangdou’s inner motives remain source-scoped.

What Changed

  • Created the page from Hanji 613’s Ruoqiang flight-and-execution case.

Relationships

  • 匈奴 - refuge power that accepts and later surrenders Tangdou.
  • 车师后王沽沟 - parallel executed ruler in the same episode.
  • 强制边疆震慑 - concept grounded partly in Tangdou’s public execution.
  • 边吏侵害引发反叛螺旋 - adjacent because failed protection and coercive pursuit can convert local fear into flight or rebellion.
  • 王莽 - regency-era power environment in which the Han court handles the case.
