陶生 / Tao Sheng (Late Han) enters the wiki through Hanji 970 as a 黑山军-linked commander whose conduct unexpectedly protects 袁绍 during the 邺城 crisis. The episode says Tao Sheng calls himself Pinghan general and had previously been a minor official from Neihuang.
When the Black Mountain forces enter Ye, Tao Sheng enters from the western side, shuts the gate, protects Yuan Shao’s family and state officials’ families, and escorts them to Chiqiu. Yuan Shao later enters Chiqiu and rewards him as Jianyi zhonglangjiang. Tao Sheng’s role matters because it prevents the base crisis from becoming a household catastrophe, giving Yuan Shao room to shift quickly into retaliation against 余毒 and 张燕.
