Overview

田楷 / Tian Kai is a Gongsun Zan-aligned late-Han regional commander whose trace runs through Qingzhou proxy war, Liu Bei’s early network, and the final Yuan-side victory sequence. The bounded sources make him less a central strategist than a marker of how the Gongsun-Yuan conflict spills across provinces and consumes allied subcommanders.

Current Profile

Tian Kai first appears as the Qingzhou inspector aligned with Gongsun Zan and opposed by Yuan Shao’s son 袁谭, in a devastated Qingzhou environment marked by famine and warlord extraction. He then appears in the Xuzhou relief context, where Tao Qian asks Tian Kai and 刘备 for help and Liu Bei’s later rise diverges from Tian Kai’s orbit. Hanji 1031 closes the arc by noting that Tian Kai is defeated by Yuan Tan, returns to his remaining territory, and later dies fighting Yuan Shao.
