头曼单于 / Touman Chanyu

头曼单于 / Touman Chanyu enters the wiki through Hanji 175 as the 匈奴 ruler and father of 冒顿单于. The episode presents him mainly through a succession scheme: after favoring a younger son, he sends Modu to 月氏 as hostage and then attacks Yuezhi, making Modu’s death likely.

The plan fails because Modu escapes. Touman then gives him command of ten thousand cavalry, which becomes the instrument Modu uses to train absolute obedience and eventually kill him during a hunt. Touman therefore matters less as an independent ruler biography than as the succession trigger that turns Xiongnu politics into a command-discipline and patricide story.
