Ulster Defence Association

The Ulster Defence Association appears in 699. The Troubles: Return of the IRA (Part 3) as a loyalist defense group founded in autumn 1971 amid fear of civil war. The episode says the UDA later had between 25,000 and 40,000 associated members at its peak and was responsible for more than 400 murders, mostly of Catholic civilians.
