王龁 / Wang He
王龁 / Wang He enters the wiki through 《资治通鉴·周纪》94丨杀神白起,长平之战中的“草包”名将?(1) as the 秦国 general pressing 赵国 at the opening of the 260 BCE 长平之战 branch. The episode says Wang He continues attacking Zhao, and Zhao suffers repeated defeats, including the death of a deputy commander and several officers.
His role changes after 赵括 replaces 廉颇. When 秦昭襄王 learns of Zhao’s command change, he secretly appoints 白起 as main commander and makes Wang He the deputy. Wang He therefore marks the visible Qin front before the more dangerous hidden command upgrade.
《资治通鉴·周纪》95丨长平之战后秦国为什么没有灭了赵国(1) gives Wang He the first named follow-on role after Changping. In Zhou Nan Wang’s fifty-sixth year, Bai Qi orders Wang He to attack 武安 and 皮牢, while 司马梗 attacks 太原 and 上党郡. Wang He therefore remains part of the Qin pressure sequence even after Bai Qi’s decisive command is established.
《资治通鉴·周纪》96丨毛遂自荐(1) makes Wang He the practical substitute after Bai Qi refuses to take over the failing 邯郸 campaign from 王陵. The host reminds listeners that Wang He is already a Zhao-facing Qin commander: he fought around Shangdang, pressed 廉颇, and served under Bai Qi at Changping. His appointment keeps Qin pressure on Zhao alive even without Bai Qi’s consent.
