Overview

魏屠耆 / Wei Tuqi enters the wiki through Hanji 403-2 as the Loulan hostage in Chang’an whom 傅介子 announces as king after killing Angui.

Current Profile

The source presents Wei Tuqi as the hinge between punitive assassination and post-assassination settlement. Because he has been kept in Chang’an as a hostage, Han can use him as a prepared successor after Angui’s death. Fu Jiezi’s announcement makes the succession a Han-backed reordering of Loulan, paired with the renaming of Loulan as Shanshan.

Wei Tuqi’s own agency appears in the return arrangement. Before leaving Chang’an, he requests a Han military-agricultural presence at Yixun so that Han force can help stabilize his new position. The court answers with a small sima-led group of forty men, making the succession depend on light but visible Han support rather than on the assassination alone.

  • Receives Han ritual and material support before returning west.
  • Requests a small Yixun屯田 presence to secure his authority.
  • Source case for hostage kingship as a low-cost frontier proxy mechanism.
