无支祁
无支祁 is discussed in 43.西游记:咄!你是什么妖精! as a Chinese water-monster or water-deity layer behind 孙悟空. The episode connects the figure to Huai River lore, an ape-like image, Yu the Great’s flood-control stories, and the motif of being suppressed under a mountain.
The source does not treat 无支祁 as the whole origin of Sun Wukong. Instead, 无支祁 becomes part of Mythic Source Layering alongside 哈努曼, monkey-demon tales, pilgrimage companions, and Daoist terminology. The point is that 《西游记》 preserves multiple older narrative energies inside one highly familiar character.
