XB-1 Supersonic Demonstrator
XB-1 is the Boom Supersonic prototype aircraft described in Blake Scholl, Founder & CEO of Boom Supersonic. The source says Boom built XB-1 after Y Combinator to prove it could build a supersonic jet and to train an organization for the later [[OvertureSupersonicAirliner|Overture]] airliner.
XB-1 is a concrete hard-tech MVP case. It did not itself solve the full commercial-airliner business, certification, or manufacturing problem, but it made technical execution visible, generated flight-test learning, and gave the team a way to build capability that could not simply be hired as a complete off-the-shelf organization.
The episode’s emotional and operating peak is XB-1 breaking the sound barrier after earlier subsonic flights.
