萧县 / Xiao County
萧县 / Xiao County enters the wiki through two 刘邦 campaign moments, but Hanji 151 part 2 makes it tactically central. After 彭城 falls, 项羽 does not first attack the city directly. He moves secretly into the Pengcheng theater and takes Xiao County at night, cutting Liu Bang’s westward retreat and supply route before striking the coalition’s rear.
The source therefore makes Xiao County the hinge between Liu Bang’s apparent capture of the Chu capital and the collapse of the 彭城之战 coalition. Once Xiao County is lost, Liu Bang’s army has to turn back and fight from the wrong orientation, while Xiang Yu can attack from the unexpected west.
Qinji 130-1 had already placed Xiao County on Liu Bang’s earlier campaign road. In that source, a 章邯 subordinate attacks along the Xiao-Dang line, and Liu Bang suffers a slight setback near Xiao County before recovering enough to take Dang County.
