Overview

夏雪宜 / 金蛇郎君 / Xia Xueyi is the dead predecessor in 《碧血剑》 whose revenge, love, martial legacy, treasure, and exploitation of 何红药 continue to govern the living story.

Current Profile

Xia survives family massacre, trains for revenge, and abducts 温仪, yet their developing love leads him toward ending the vendetta. The possibility fails when the Wen elders use a false marriage agreement and Wen Yi’s food to incapacitate and maim him while pursuing his treasure map.

His capacity for tenderness does not erase his conduct toward He Hongyao. He uses her attachment to gain weapons and treasure, later dismisses their intimacy as play, and leaves her to bear punishment and a life organized around him. The profile therefore preserves the “金蛇 / 郎君” duality as moral contradiction rather than romantic absolution.

The historical-revenge installment sharpens the proportionality problem. Xia’s family destruction makes his grievance unusually sympathetic, but an aim to kill fifty Wen family members transfers guilt across a kin group and makes revenge excessive. His memorability also exposes a contrast with 袁承志: a dead, morally mixed predecessor with distinctive weapons and style can exert more dramatic force than the living hero who inherits his skills.

Key Characteristics

  • Pursues revenge after the destruction of his family.
  • Moves toward relinquishing revenge through love for Wen Yi.
  • Is betrayed and maimed by a family whose greed defeats reconciliation.
  • Exploits He Hongyao’s attachment while refusing responsibility for its cost.
  • Controls the main narrative after death through objects, skills, memory, and unfinished obligations.
  • Turns justified grievance into disproportionate collective retaliation against the Wen family.

Evidence

Revenge interrupted by love

Exploitation and relational responsibility

Posthumous influence

Revenge proportionality

Qualifications

The episodes reconstruct motives and dialogue from participant memory and do not resolve whether Xia’s gold bequest is meaningful care, inadequate compensation, or a residual attachment to treasure. His movement away from revenge qualifies but does not cancel his manipulation of He Hongyao, and the fifty-person revenge target is an episode summary rather than a complete edition-by-edition textual accounting.

What Changed

  • Added proportionality as the boundary between sympathetic grievance and collective retaliation.
  • Strengthened the account of how weapons, martial inheritance, treasure, and distinctive style create posthumous vividness.

Relationships

  • 温仪 - beloved whose care interrupts revenge and whose family destroys their escape.
  • 何红药 - admirer whose devotion he uses without reciprocal commitment.
  • 温青青 - daughter who inherits his identity and treasure.
  • 袁承志 - later hero who inherits parts of his martial and material legacy.
  • 《碧血剑》 - novel whose revenge and inheritance systems keep him narratively active after death.
  • Absent-Presence Character Design / 缺席的在场者 - narrative pattern through which his death does not end his agency in the plot.
