Overview

Xin Qingji / 辛庆忌 enters the wiki through Hanji 549 as the left general who saves 朱云 after Zhu Yun’s direct accusation enrages 汉成帝. The same source also records his death in Yuanyan 1 / 12 BCE and presents his family name as associated with martial expectation and frontier prestige.

Current Profile

Xin Qingji’s central wiki role is intercession. After Chengdi orders Zhu Yun seized, Xin Qingji removes his cap and seal, kneels below the hall, and pleads that Zhu Yun should be spared whether his words are correct or merely upright. His repeated bloody kowtows help Chengdi cool down and abandon execution.

The episode then gives Xin Qingji a short memorial frame after his death. It describes him as a court tiger-general whose reputation was respected by Xiongnu and Western Regions polities even in a relatively peaceful period, and links his name to a family expectation of martial speed and strength.

Key Characteristics

  • Western Han left general whose authority and self-abasing ritual plea save Zhu Yun.
  • Intercessor who reframes offensive speech as uprightness that a ruler should tolerate.
  • Military figure remembered for frontier prestige among Xiongnu and Western Regions groups.
  • Source-bounded example of courage joining both martial reputation and protection of direct speech.

Evidence

  • Intercession: Hanji 549 says Xin Qingji removes his cap and seal and pleads for Zhu Yun below the hall.
  • Argument for clemency: Hanji 549 says Xin Qingji argues Zhu Yun should not be killed if correct and should be forgiven for uprightness if mistaken.
  • Death and reputation: Hanji 549 says Xin Qingji dies the same year and had prestige among Xiongnu and Western Regions groups.
  • Name interpretation: Hanji 549 explains the 庆忌 name through a fleet, martial divine figure.

Qualifications
