荀爽 / Xun Shuang (late Han)

Hanji 949 adds Xun Shuang’s earlier forced-recruitment branch. 董卓 first summons him toward Pingyuan, then raises him through guangluxun to sikong within 93 days, using his Yingchuan Xun prestige as part of a rapid scholar-legitimacy display.

The same source notes his family standing through 荀子 descent, the “Xun eight dragons” reputation, and his nephew 荀彧. In this episode, that prestige is exactly why the appointment is politically useful to Dong Zhuo, but the surrounding violence keeps the case inside 胁迫征士合法性 rather than voluntary talent attraction.

荀爽 / Xun Shuang enters the wiki through Hanji 951 as the sikong who helps soften the confrontation after 杨彪 openly opposes 董卓’s move from 洛阳 to 长安. His role is not developed as biography; he is part of the court’s remaining damage-control layer when direct remonstrance risks lethal escalation.

In this source, Xun Shuang stands beside 黄琬 as a figure of defensive speech under tyranny. The point is not that the court can check Dong Zhuo, but that a few senior officials can still temporarily reduce immediate danger even while the underlying coercive capital relocation proceeds.
