杨定 / Yang Ding (late Han)

杨定 / Yang Ding (late Han) now enters the wiki through Hanji 989 as one of the armed escorts around 汉献帝’s eastward move. He receives court title recognition, is warned by Zhong Ji about 郭汜’s plan to force the emperor back west, helps beat Guo Si’s subordinates after the Xinfeng fire, and then reaches 华阴 with 董承 and 杨奉.

Hanji 990 then develops him as a former 董卓 subordinate and late-Han general competing around the emperor’s route. The episode places him against 段煨, whose Huayin position and grain supply make him both a route-control obstacle and a tempting resource holder.

Yang Ding joins 董承 and 杨奉 in asking the emperor to authorize an attack on Duan Wei, but Emperor Xian refuses because Duan Wei has not openly rebelled. The allied force attacks anyway and fails to take Duan Wei’s camp for more than ten days, while Duan Wei continues providing food to the emperor and officials.

The episode’s closing sequence makes Yang Ding a negative case inside 利益结构式联盟脆弱性. 张济 shifts alignment, 李傕 and 郭汜 reunite, and Yang Ding’s coalition position collapses. He tries to retreat toward Lantian, is blocked by Guo Si, flees alone toward 刘表 in Jingzhou, and is killed en route by displaced armed people.

The page keeps the moral diagnosis source-scoped. The host reads Yang Ding’s end through greed, rigidity, and failure to assess changing conditions, but the durable wiki claim is narrower: Yang Ding misprices Duan Wei’s position and the emperor-control field, then loses when other armed actors re-sort their alliances around the more valuable prize.
