In the episode’s reconstruction, 陈平 approaches Yanzhi before trying to move Modu directly. He gives her valuables and shows her an image of a beautiful Han woman, making a possible Han submission feel like a personal threat: if Modu wins and receives Han beauties, Yanzhi may lose status inside the chanyu’s household.
