荥阳 / Yingyang (Warring States)
荥阳 / Yingyang enters the wiki through 《资治通鉴·秦纪》103-1|司马迁看中的信陵君算是小人吗? as a Qin-held point near 荥泽 in the campaign setting around 管城. The episode says Yingyang has already been absorbed into 三川 commandery.
Its role is not a stand-alone battle narrative. Yingyang helps make the map legible: Qin’s control north-west of Xingze and around Guancheng leaves 大梁 exposed to water and route pressure even after 信陵君 defeats 蒙敖 in the field.
Qinji 128-3 adds Yingyang as an early westward target of 张楚政权. After 陈胜 declares himself Chu king, he makes 吴广 acting Zhang Chu king and sends him to supervise generals attacking Yingyang. The source does not yet narrate the battle result; it uses Yingyang to mark Zhang Chu’s push from Chen County toward Qin-held strategic space.
Qinji 129-1 supplies that battle’s political consequence. Yingyang is described as a Guanzhong route point backed by the Ao granary, making it both a military gate and a logistics center. 李由, governor of 三川 and son of 李斯, holds the city against Wu Guang’s repeated attacks. The stalled siege becomes the immediate setting for 田臧’s killing of Wu Guang.
