宜阳 / Yiyang (Warring States)

宜阳 / Yiyang appears in 《资治通鉴·周纪》27丨围观魏惠王和齐威王是咋商业互捧 as the 韩国 place taken by 秦国 in 335 BCE. The episode says Qin had already attacked around Yiyang more than fifty years earlier, but had then taken only several large outlying settlements rather than the city itself.

The source treats Yiyang as a long-coveted strategic target for Qin, comparable in function to 魏国’s Hexi lands. On this page, Yiyang is kept as a Warring States place node rather than merged with later or modern Yiyang references.

《资治通鉴·周纪》28丨韩昭侯的快乐你想象不到 uses the same loss as background for 韩昭侯’s high-gate criticism. Because Han has recently suffered Qin’s attack and drought, the place becomes part of the circumstance that makes the gate project 时绌举赢.
