袁隗 / Yuan Wei (late Han)

Hanji 946 adds Yuan Wei before his later seal-transfer role under 董卓. After 何进 is killed, 袁绍 and Yuan Wei use a false edict to summon and kill 樊陵 and 许相, whose appointments had been forged by the eunuch side.

This makes Yuan Wei part of the same unstable title-and-office field that Hanji 948 later develops. In Hanji 946 he participates in retaliatory pseudo-procedure against eunuch-backed appointees; in Hanji 948 he is forced into real court procedure for Dong Zhuo’s deposition.

袁隗 / Yuan Wei (late Han) enters the wiki through Hanji 948 as the Yuan-family elder and grand tutor whom 董卓 uses to formalize the deposition of 刘辩 / 弘农王. After 袁绍 refuses Dong Zhuo’s proposal and leaves Luoyang, Yuan Wei lacks the same room to resist and is made to participate in the ceremony.

His role is procedural rather than ideational. The source has Yuan Wei remove the imperial seal from Liu Bian and hand the position to 汉献帝, making him the visible court official through whom armed coercion receives ritual form. This makes him a source case for 名器合法性 under duress: the seal and office still matter, but the will behind them belongs to Dong Zhuo’s military control.
