虞翻 / Yu Fan enters the wiki through Hanji 1004 and Hanji 1005 as a 会稽郡 merit officer originally under 王朗. In Hanji 1004, Yu Fan warns Wang Lang that 孙策 is too skilled and forceful to meet head-on, but Wang Lang rejects the advice and loses the commandery. After Sun Ce defeats Wang Lang and takes Kuaiji, Sun Ce keeps Yu Fan in his post and treats him familiarly.
Yu Fan’s main role in the source is remonstrance. He warns Sun Ce that light clothing, sudden solo hunting trips, and guards who cannot prepare are not harmless hobbies once a person holds command. By invoking the white dragon in fish clothes and Liu Bang’s white-snake story, Yu Fan turns folklore into a political-security lesson: high status requires visible protection and self-restraint.
