虞姬 / Yu Ji

虞姬 / Yu Ji enters the wiki through Hanji 168 part 1 as the favored woman with 项羽 during the night after the 垓下之战. The episode follows the 《史记》 scene in which Xiang Yu drinks at night, hears 四面楚歌, sees that the military situation is lost, and turns his despair toward 《垓下歌》.

The source does not develop Yu Ji as a broad biography. Its interest is the final dilemma. Xiang Yu cannot keep a siege position, cannot safely take Yu Ji in a breakout, and cannot accept leaving her to Han forces. The host reads his repeated “奈若何” as the moment when military defeat becomes a private problem he cannot solve directly.

Yu Ji’s suicide is therefore treated as action rather than decoration.
