Yunmengze / 云梦泽

Yunmengze is the ancient wetland invoked in 65.龙王之怒:1931年的长江洪水 to explain how Hubei / 湖北 and the middle Yangtze region once absorbed and lived with water. The episode describes it as a huge temperate wetland with rich species and flood-buffering capacity.

The source uses Yunmengze to contrast Wetland Adaptation with later fixed settlement, rice agriculture, dikes, reclamation, and urban infrastructure. As wetland capacity shrank, floods became less a periodic condition to work around and more a threat to built systems that could not easily move.

Hanji 172 adds an early Han political use of the same place-name. 陈平 tells 刘邦 to announce a tour to Yunmengze as the benign cover for summoning the vassal kings and drawing 韩信 to 陈县. In this source, Yunmengze is less an ecological landscape than a plausible imperial-travel pretext.
