张让 / Zhang Rang (late Han)
Hanji 945 adds Zhang Rang’s pre-counterattack recovery before the Hanji 946 trap. After 袁绍 and 何进 pressure 何太后 into dismissing many eunuchs, Zhang Rang uses his family tie through a daughter-in-law and 武阳君 to ask for one more entry into the palace.
The source presents Zhang Rang as exploiting the inner-court emotional channel that He Jin’s outside-force plan cannot control. His return shows that 宫廷接触垄断 still matters even after formal dismissal, and it sets up the faster palace move narrated in Hanji 946.
张让 / Zhang Rang (late Han) enters the wiki through Hanji 946 as a leading 十常侍 figure during the 189 CE palace crisis. When 何进 enters the palace to ask 何太后 to kill the regular attendants, Zhang Rang and 段珪 have the conversation overheard and prepare the counterattack.
The episode presents Zhang Rang as faster and more ruthless than He Jin in a zero-sum court struggle. He uses a claimed dowager summons to bring He Jin into the trap, rebukes him for ingratitude, and has followers including 渠穆 kill him. He then helps issue forged appointments for 樊陵 and 许相 before the armed anti-eunuch backlash overwhelms the palace.
Zhang Rang’s final scene is source-scoped but structurally important. He flees with 刘辩 / 弘农王 and Liu Xie / 汉献帝 toward 小平津, then jumps into the river after 闵贡 catches up and kills several eunuchs. His death closes the Ten Attendants branch while opening the 董卓 branch.
