漳水 / Zhang River
漳水 / Zhang River enters the wiki through Qinji 134 as the geographic correction behind 破釜沉舟. The episode argues that the famous crossing was not the earlier Yellow River crossing from Pingyuanjin, but the Zhang River crossing close to 巨鹿.
The reasoning is distance-based. Pingyuanjin is far from Julu, making a three-day-food march into immediate battle implausible in the episode’s reconstruction. Julu is much closer to the Zhang River, so Xiang Yu’s order to sink boats, destroy cooking vessels, burn camp, and carry only three days of rations fits a rapid final approach after crossing the nearby river.
The Zhang River therefore matters because it puts the idiom inside the concrete 巨鹿之战 sequence: first break the Qin supply corridor, then cross near the battlefield, then commit the Chu army to decisive combat against 王离.
