张温 / Zhang Wen (late Han)
Hanji 930 adds Zhang Wen’s earlier court-defense role during 朱儁’s campaign against the 黄巾军. When the court considers recalling Zhu Jun after months without taking the city, Zhang Wen invokes 白起 and 乐毅 to argue that long campaigns can turn after sustained pressure and that battlefield command should not be interrupted when the commander still has an executable plan.
This source gives Zhang Wen a positive 阵前换将风险 branch before later episodes show his own limits as field commander under 董卓 and 孙坚’s warning. In Hanji 930, Zhang Wen’s advice gives Zhu Jun time to convert the siege into victory.
Hanji 935 adds Zhang Wen’s campaign setup before the command-discipline problem in Hanji 936. 汉灵帝 appoints him chariot-and-cavalry general in 185 CE against 边章 and 韩遂, with 董卓 and 周慎 among the subordinate commanders.
The source shows Zhang Wen’s force as large but not automatically effective. He is defeated at Meiyang, then Dong Zhuo and right Fufeng-side forces counterattack and drive the rebels toward Yuzhong. Zhang Wen sends Zhou Shen in pursuit, where the ignored 孙坚 logistics plan turns into Zhou Shen’s supply-line failure.
Hanji 936 backfills Zhang Wen as the senior commander before his later removal and death. He summons 董卓 by imperial order after Dong Zhuo’s western campaign, but Dong Zhuo arrives late and contemptuous; 孙坚 privately urges Zhang Wen to execute him under military law.
The source does not make Zhang Wen a simple fool. Dong Zhuo has prestige west of the Yellow River and Longshan, and Zhang Wen does not see an uncontestable capital offense. His failure is therefore framed as a tragic collision between procedural caution and 军法威严 in a disordering army. The same episode later notes Zhang Wen’s appointment as taiwei while outside the capital and his recall after 鲜卑 pressure.
Hanji 938 backfills Zhang Wen before Dong Zhuo’s later killing of him. In 187 CE he is removed as taiwei after failing to pacify 马腾, 韩遂, and related Liangzhou rebels. The same source ties him to the 乌桓 cavalry failure: he rejects 张纯’s request for command and assigns the force to 公孙瓒, after which supply and pay failures help turn the mobilization into a rebellion environment.
张温 / Zhang Wen (late Han) enters the wiki through Hanji 957 as the senior official 董卓 kills after a court astrologer predicts that an important minister will die. The source says Dong Zhuo accuses Zhang Wen of secret contact with 袁绍, has him beaten to death in the marketplace, and then presents the killing as the fulfillment of the omen.
The page is source-scoped. Hanji 957 also remembers Zhang Wen as an earlier superior of Dong Zhuo and as a commander linked to campaigns against Han Sui, Bian Zhang, and Beigong Boyu. The episode’s main use of him, however, is not a full career biography. Zhang Wen is the victim through whom Dong Zhuo turns private resentment, formal accusation, public violence, and celestial language into 天象包装式清洗.
