张修 / Zhang Xiu (Five Pecks)

Hanji 929 backfills Zhang Xiu’s earlier 巴郡 appearance before the Hanzhong route-control branch. The source says he uses a healing practice resembling 张角’s religious mobilization, receives five pecks of rice from patients’ families, and is therefore called a “Five Pecks master” before he gathers followers and attacks commandery and county offices.

Hanji 959 later uses Zhang Xiu as the Hanzhong-side actor paired with 张鲁 in 刘焉’s Yizhou strategy. Liu Yan appoints Zhang Lu as督义司马 and Zhang Xiu as别部司马, then sends them against Hanzhong commandery administrator Su Gu.

The source does not build a full biography for Zhang Xiu. His role is functional: he helps make Hanzhong and the 斜谷道 part of Liu Yan’s separation from the Chang’an court, after which Liu Yan can claim that road blockage prevents normal communication.

This page is deliberately disambiguated from 张绣, the Wancheng commander. The two share a romanized name but are different late-Han subjects with different public routes.
