张脩 / Zhang Xiu (Protector of Xiongnu)
Hanji 917 introduces 张脩 / Zhang Xiu as the 护匈奴中郎将 who clashes with 呼征, the 南匈奴 chanyu. The source says Zhang Xiu kills Huzheng without authorization and installs the right wise king 羌渠 as chanyu.
The Han court later sends Zhang Xiu to 洛阳 for廷尉 judgment and executes him. The page is therefore a frontier-command authority case: a Han official can alter allied succession on the ground, but the court treats that move as punishable unauthorized intervention.
This page is deliberately disambiguated from 张绣, the Wancheng commander, and 张修, the Five Pecks actor. The transcript’s “张须” is normalized here to the historical 张脩 tied to the Huzheng-Qiangqu succession episode.
