张子 / Zhang Zi (Qi general)
张子 / Zhang Zi appears in 《资治通鉴·周纪》48丨君王为啥不能传位宰相 as the 齐国 commander sent by 齐宣王 into 燕国 after Yan’s internal disorder.
The episode says Zhang Zi leads Qi forces, including the “five capitals” troops and northern Qi people, into Yan. Because Yan soldiers are unwilling to fight and the city gates are not shut, the campaign becomes a rapid occupation rather than a hard conquest.
Zhang Zi is therefore source-scoped as the military executor of Qi Xuan Wang’s moralized intervention. The next interpretive burden falls not on Zhang Zi but on Qi Xuan Wang: after Yan is taken, Qi must explain whether it is rescuing Yan’s people or exploiting Yan’s breakdown.
