昭雎 / Zhao Ju
昭雎 / Zhao Ju appears in 《资治通鉴·周纪》62丨稷儿,诓你舅舅的“腿”啊 as the 楚国 minister who gives the clearest warning against 楚怀王 going to 武关 for a meeting with 秦昭襄王. He argues that 秦国 is untrustworthy and that Chu should guard its borders rather than put the ruler inside Qin’s chosen terrain.
The same source gives Zhao Ju a second succession role after Chu Huaiwang is detained in 咸阳 and crown prince 芈横 is still hostage in 齐国. When some Chu elites consider installing another prince, Zhao Ju argues that bypassing both the trapped king and the absent crown prince would violate the ruler’s intent and destabilize legitimacy.
