赵奢 / Zhao She enters the wiki through 《资治通鉴·周纪》86丨历史上靠收租的将军竟然是他？ before his famous later identity as a Zhao general. The episode first treats him as a possible former 燕国 frontier official at 上谷, using 《战国策》 as a suggestive but source-limited basis.
His developed role in this source is fiscal. After returning to 赵国, Zhao She serves as a 田部吏 responsible for tax collection. When 平原君’s household refuses to pay, he enforces the law by executing nine household personnel, turning a tax dispute into a test of whether powerful aristocrats can stand outside state law.
Zhao She’s argument to Pingyuanjun reframes enforcement as self-preservation. If Pingyuanjun violates law, Zhao’s law collapses, the state weakens, and outside powers can destroy the very privilege Pingyuanjun wants to protect. If Pingyuanjun leads in public law observance, Zhao grows stronger and his household remains secure.
Pingyuanjun accepts the argument and recommends Zhao She to 赵惠文王赵何, who appoints him to manage national taxation. The episode says Zhao She’s administration fills the treasury and enriches the people, making him a case where non-battlefield state capacity precedes military fame.

《资治通鉴·周纪》94丨杀神白起，长平之战中的“草包”名将？（1） adds Zhao She’s posthumous family judgment through the 赵括 appointment crisis. The episode says Zhao Kuo could debate military theory so well that Zhao She sometimes could not beat him in argument, but Zhao She was not reassured. He told his wife that war is a matter of life and death and that Zhao Kuo treats it too lightly; if Zhao ever gives Zhao Kuo command, the Zhao army will be ruined by him.
This does not weaken Zhao She’s earlier command image. It sharpens it: the same commander who used secrecy, tempo, and terrain at Eyu also knew that command cannot be measured only by verbal mastery of military texts. Zhao She therefore becomes one of the warning voices behind 纸上谈兵式统帅陷阱.
