赵歇 / Zhao Xie
赵歇 / Zhao Xie enters the wiki through Qinji 129-4 as the old 赵国 royal descendant installed after 武臣 is killed by 李良. 张耳 and 陈馀 first gather surviving troops, defeat Li Liang, and then accept a guest’s advice to restore a Zhao royal name.
The source presents Zhao Xie’s enthronement as a legitimacy and local-grounding move. Zhang Er and Chen Yu are capable operators, but in a restored-state field, the name of a former royal house can gather broader acceptance than a pair of advisers ruling directly.
Zhao Xie therefore extends 六国复国式反秦策略 from an abstract proposal into an actual Zhao repair step after internal collapse. It does not end 反秦阵营诸侯化分裂, but it shows how restoration politics can also stabilize a branch after a coup.
Qinji 132 puts Zhao Xie under renewed Qin pressure. 章邯 breaks 邯郸 after killing 项梁, and Zhao Xie flees with 张耳 to 巨鹿. 王离 then surrounds Julu while 陈馀 camps to the north, making Zhao Xie’s restored kingship dependent on outside rescue.
Qinji 134 keeps Zhao Xie mostly as the besieged king whose survival depends on the 巨鹿之战 outcome. Inside Julu, grain and soldiers are running down while 王离 is supplied by 章邯’s corridor. Zhao Xie’s restored royal legitimacy therefore cannot save the regime by itself; it needs military relief that normal Zhao-side action fails to provide.
Hanji 143 gives Zhao Xie’s settlement demotion. 项羽 moves him from Zhao king to Dai king, while 张耳 becomes Changshan king because of reputation and participation in the westward entry. Zhao Xie’s restored royal name remains useful, but it is subordinated to Xiang Yu’s reward logic inside 周秦混合制.
Hanji 149 reverses that demotion through 陈馀’s rebellion. After Chen Yu defeats 张耳, he brings Zhao Xie back from Dai to Xiangguo and restores him as Zhao king. Zhao Xie then rewards Chen Yu with the Dai kingship, while Chen Yu stays in Zhao and delegates Dai affairs to 夏说.
Hanji 152 part 2 places Zhao Xie in the post-Pengcheng alliance reversal. After 刘邦 is defeated, Zhao Xie and Chen Yu are counted among those who turn back toward 项羽, showing that Zhao’s anti-Xiang participation in the Pengcheng coalition does not survive Liu Bang’s loss of visible strength.
Hanji 155-2 makes Zhao Xie the next political target after 韩信 defeats 魏豹 and takes 代地. Han Xin proposes moving through Zhao, Yan, and Qi so the northern line can pressure 项羽’s grain route, while 陈馀’s discovery that 张耳 is still alive sets up the coming Zhao conflict.
Hanji 156 part 1 places Zhao Xie with Chen Yu at 井陉口, where Zhao holds terrain and claimed numerical superiority against Han Xin and Zhang Er. Zhao Xie’s restored kingship is still mediated through Chen Yu’s command decisions: 李左车 sees a supply-line solution, but Chen Yu’s rejection leaves Zhao committed to a direct fight as the transcript moves toward the backwater battle.
Hanji 156 part 2 makes Zhao Xie’s kingship part of the army’s panic. When Zhao troops return and see Han red flags in their camp, they infer that the rear and perhaps the king have been taken. Han then captures Zhao Xie after the rout, showing how quickly a restored royal name loses practical force once camp security and command confidence collapse.
