赵尧 / Zhao Yao

赵尧 / Zhao Yao enters the wiki through Hanji 181 as the official who advises 刘邦 on how to protect 刘如意 after the attempted heir change stalls. His proposal is institutional rather than emotional: Liu Ruyi needs a Zhao chancellor whom 吕雉, 刘盈, and the other kings will respect or fear.

Zhao Yao recommends 周昌 for that role. Liu Bang accepts the advice, sends Zhou Chang to Zhao, and makes Zhao Yao yushi dafu in Zhou Chang’s place. The source therefore makes Zhao Yao the broker of the protective arrangement that later proves thin in the host’s reading.
