周慎 / Zhou Shen (late Han)
周慎 / Zhou Shen enters through Hanji 935 as the late-Han commander appointed under 张温 during the 185 CE campaign against 边章 and 韩遂. After the rebels withdraw toward Yuzhong, Zhang Wen sends Zhou Shen with 30,000 troops in pursuit.
The episode’s main use of Zhou Shen is a logistics failure. 孙坚 advises him to cut the rebels’ grain road while the main force supports from behind, arguing that the city force cannot hold if external supply is severed. Zhou Shen instead besieges the city directly, and the rebels cut the Han army’s own grain road at Kuiyuan Gorge, forcing a retreat.
