庄谷 / Zhuang Gu
庄谷 / Zhuang Gu enters the wiki through Qinji 129-3 as 陈胜’s driver at the end of Chen Sheng’s rule. After Chen Sheng tries to move toward Ruyin and raise another force, the episode says Zhuang Gu kills him on the return through Xiachengfu and then surrenders to 秦国.
The host treats Zhuang Gu’s act as the final visible sign of 起义首领人心疏离. Chen Sheng does not die in an open battlefield scene against 章邯, but at the hands of someone physically close to him, after the source has described the killing of old friends and the use of harsh inspectors.
吕臣 later retakes Chen County, kills Zhuang Gu, and reburies Chen Sheng. Zhuang Gu therefore sits at the hinge between Chen Sheng’s humiliating death and the partial posthumous repair of his dignity.
